After a rather tearful conversation this morning Ian SOMEHOW managed to get an uncle with a Jeep to drive him across a farm/mountain when the main road out of Tredegar was closed and he made it in time for dinner! Mark was over as well and the four of us sat down to potatis gratang*, salmon, gravlaxsas, mustard, ham, bread, sprouts, brocolli, meatballs and Julmust. Simon picked Mark up to go see Avatar and and Ian and Linnea and I opened pressies. And I didn't get called in to cover at work! We all did good :D I have guillotene earrings! And a toolbox for my tools! And a new toilet seat! (Yes, that's number 3 since I moved in...) Well, the toilet seat was more a spare from Becky's house renovation last weekend but it's all contributing to my happy mood. And Ian has some shineys too including a new sweater... that almost fits :( Cannot say how hard I tried to find an unbranded sweater with extra long sleaves upon which to print something. It is a near impossible task. At least the sleaves were longer than those of the sweater he was wearing today, that's something. Bums has eaten lots, played lots, had a couple of short naps. I anticipate a good night's sleep, even. Need to keep track of her presents before I forget who gave her what. So far only one duplicate (what were the chances that Wally and I would buy her the same pair of sparkly red tights? We don't even live in the same country!) and none of the remaining gifts are the same size and shape as anything else. Tomorrow morning there will be stockings, and leftovers, and apple cake, and Dr Who! And I have gingerbread resting in the fridge tonight so maybe there will be gingerbread men! * Magimix love! It took less than 30 seconds to slice all of the potatoes and grate all the cheese! It was astounding! Edited to include: mustard herring. |
